Les Walker has dedicated his career to serving and protecting others. A former correctional officer, he specializes in safety assessments and executing high risk security operations, including surveillance, special projects, and emergency deployment. Projects have included former United States Vice President Dick Chaney, Hillary Clinton, Stephen Harper, Allison Redford, Rachel Notley, Robert Spencer, and celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Selina Gomez and George Canyon. Inspired by the law enforcement professionals he saw protecting his community as a young man, he completed a bachelors’ degree in Criminology with a minor in Psychology from Simon Fraser University, where he developed an interest in key social and internal conditions that can trigger criminality in individuals. Today Les works to develop additional business opportunities for his organization S.E.R.T Security Management Resources Inc. throughout Western Canada. In his role, he works with several agencies both locally and internationally, to further develop Canada’s security industry in terms of risk management strategies, public policy, and training. Les has earned several field qualifications during his tenure including certification in Arrest and Control Techniques, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Alberta Basic Security Training Instructor, British Columbia Basic Security Training Instructor, WHMIS Instructor, Basic Emergency Management and CPTED Level II (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design). Through affiliations with the Overseas Security Advisory Council and other public entities, Les seeks to educate those within and outside of his industry about the important and unique relationship between law enforcement and private security. It is his hope that ultimately all professionals entrusted to protect and serve others will conduct themselves with an unwavering code of ethics that holds public safety as top priority.
